The SeedCast Tanzania is an app based digital tool designed to help decision support system of state machinery by reliably estimating demand, rationalized production and better supply chain management for rice varieties in the state. This apart, users of this app are presented with an opportunity to know about varietal information, recommendation and management practices of major HYVs and availability of HYVs with different dealers. These unique features of this app foster a n efficient and seamless connection between dealers, farmers and officials which will contribute immensely in strengthening rice seed system for the welfare and empowerment of farmers in Tanzania.

COLLECTION OF YOUR INFORMATION

This app will collect information about you and your rice seed business in a variety of ways. The information collected via this application depends on how this app is used and this may

Locational and other personally identifiable information (such as your name, photo mobile number and business establishment address) that you voluntarily give to us when choosing to participate in various features related to the Application, please be advised that all data you disclose in these areas is NOT public and your data will be accessible to only GoO or persons/agencies authorized by Department of Agriculture, Government of Tanzania.

This app will also collect information about dealer’s demand, stock for past years which are required for consolidation of seeds of different rice varieties. This will also ask you the sources of different rice varieties along with current stock. These business information may be accessed by Government of Tanzania or any other authorized agencies.

As a part of predicting variety wise demand for next season, this app from dealers will gather information about rice variety, quantity demanded, season of supply. These information, in any way, will not be disseminated in public domain and will be further consolidated and synthesized at aggregate level through a dashboard by designated persons/agencies appointed by Government of Tanzania.

This app may request access or permission to certain features from your mobile device, including your mobile device’s (GPS, calendar, camera, contacts, microphone] and other features. If you wish to change our access or permissions, you may do so in your device’s settings.

With accurate information you provide, will allow us to support you with better knowledge and strong supply management system of major rice varieties. We may use information collected from you via the Application to:

1. Compile and consolidate variety specific demand data generated from dealers through a system of dashboard to feed into supply system of rice seeds.

2. Comprehend the quantity and pattern of stock of different varieties with dealers which will be used to optimize supply process at state level. These stocks you disclose, may be visible to other users as well.

3. Data you feed into this app, will be used to understand block and district wise preference of rice varieties along with their quantities, which is supposed help the authority concerned better plan seed movement strategy ahead of time.

4. Monitor and analyse usage and trends to improve your experience with the Application.

5. Notify you of updates to the Application.

Though this digital tool intends to rationalize demand and supply of rice varieties in the state, following disclaimers should be noted

1. Demand and supply estimation through this app will be done through registered dealers. Non registered dealers in the state will not be accounted in this exercise.

2. This app will be accessed by those dealers who are registered with government body. If any registered dealer cannot access with valid mobile number may contact authority concerned.

3. Demand generated for a particular variety is an estimate only may not the actual figure.

4. SeedCast is to facilitate demand and production of rice varieties by creating a digital interface among key stakeholders, but it may not guarantee supply of a quantity demanded by particular dealer.

5. Demand for rice varieties put by dealers are seen as genuine and trustworthy and it is assumed demand indented equals the actual procurement by dealer, given supply is ensured by state body.

6. Utmost care has been take to update varietal information section. Yet, any suggestion for its improvement will be well received.

Board of directors of the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) or any of its affiliates, collaborators, employees and other representatives, under no circumstances, do bear legal liability for any direct, indirect, consequential losses of image, goodwill, business, computer malfunction, system failure and or any other unwanted damages of any persons, organizations, agencies, and establishments because of the usage and promotion of this application even in the event of IRRI has been communicated with the possibility of such happening. This limitation of liability shall apply to liability for death or personal injury except to the extent applicable law prohibits such limitation
